What Ingredients Do I Need To Make A Spiced Apple Martini?

The Alcohol

The Vodka: A Martini is naturally vodka heavy, so you need to make sure that you use a quality vodka for this recipe. Luckily, Florida distills some excellent smooth Vodkas, so there are plenty to choose from. Below are some of our favorite Florida Vodkas.

The Mixers

The Apple Cider: Apple cider and apple cider doughnuts are two of our favorite things about fall. You will easily be able to pick this up at your local store or farmers markets during the fall and winter months. Unfortunately, apples prefer cold climates, so you won’t be seeing any local Florida apple cider. You will still be able to support American farmers though, they will just be our friends from up north in Washington, New York and Michigan, where over 75% of our apples are grown.

The Sweetener: The homemade spiced apple simple syrup is what makes this cocktail taste like fall. This easy simple syrup recipe just involved simmering ground cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger with apple, sugar and water. As well as using it in your fall cocktail recipes you can also drizzle it over baked goods or your pancakes. Yum!

The Citrus: Fresh key limes can be a challenge to find, but keep an eye out because depending on your location you should be able to pick them up in your local store. If you can’t find them then use the more common Persian lime. You just loose a touch of tartness and the slightly more floral notes you get from key limes.

What Equipment Should I Use To Make A Spiced Apple Martini?

The Citrus Press: If you use a lot of fresh citrus juice, then buy a citrus press- they are amazing. You get a lot more juice out of your lemons and limes, you don’t have to worry about seeds, and you cut down on mess of squeezing with your hands. As Margarita lovers  we use our citrus press regularly. We have a Zulay citrus press which handles both lemons and limes with equally perfect results.

Recommended Juicer: Zulay Premium Citrus Press

The Glass: The martini glass was specifically designed for chilled cocktails that are served without ice. The long stem keeps the liquid cold for longer by preventing your hand from warming the side of the glass. If you are looking for beautifully made and durable martini glasses, then look no further than Duke’s Bar. They really are the best.

Shaken or Stirred: Bond got this one right, a Martini should be “shaken, not stirred”. Shaking ensures they are properly mixed, ice cold and refreshing. We love the beautifully designed shakers from Absolut Elyx Boutique. The patterned brass designs are stunning. Even better, you can get $15 off your first order by using this link.

Straight up or on the rocks: Always serve a martini straight up. Pro tip: be sure to chill the glass first by filling with ice and topping with cold water. When you are ready to serve your martini cocktail, dump out the ice and strain into an ice-cold glass.

We hope you enjoy the Spiced Apple Martini recipe below, and as always drink local and drink responsibly. Cheers!
