2020 has been a good year so far for Tampa Bay sports teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup and “Tampa Brady” has even managed to reinvigorated a lackluster Bucs team. Not to be outdone, the Tampa Bay Rays won the AL East Division title for the first time since 2010 and are currently in the postseason. If like us you are sad that you didn’t get a chance to cheer the Rays on at the Trop this year, then give the Tampa Bay Breeze cocktail a try. This version of the classic Bay Breeze cocktail uses local Florida vodka distilled right here in Tampa Bay. We use Coast Vodka from Kozuba and Sons Distillery or Banyan Reserve Vodka from St. Petersburg Distillery. Support local and enjoy your Tampa Bay Breeze cocktail. Rays up!
What Ingredients Do I Need For A Tampa Bay Breeze?
The Alcohol
The Vodka: Florida distilleries are producing lots of fantastic smooth vodkas and two of the best are in Tampa Bay in the city of St. Petersburg.
The first is Coast Handmade Vodka made by Kozuba and Sons Distillery which you can pick up in ABC Fine Wine & Spirits. It comes in a crazy affordable 1.75L box which costs less than $30! If that wasn’t enough, a portion of each sale goes to the Florida Conservation Association. So, it is helping to preserve Florida’s coastline as well as your wallet!
The second is Banyan Reserve Vodka made by St. Petersburg Distillery. This smooth vodka has previously been voted the best vodka in the south by Southern Living Magazine, and one taste an you’ll see why. Again this great vodka comes in a 1.75L bottle for around the $30 mark. Another bargain.

The Mixers
The Fruit Juices: Neither cranberries or pineapples are commercially grown in Florida, so for these ingredients you are going to have to go out of state. Use your favorite juice from the store. We typically use Ocean Spray light cranberry and Libby’s light pineapple. These light versions save on the calories but still deliver a great drink.
What Equipment Should I Use To Make A Tampa Bay Breeze?
The Glass: Serve this cocktail in a highball glass. The highball glass was designed for cocktails served on the rocks. The tall shape helps keep your drink cold.
Recommended highball glass: GODINGER Highball Glasses, Set of 4
The Shaker: Our top pick cocktail shaker is the patterned copper shaker from Absolut Elyx Boutique. It is sturdy and well made and the etched pineapple design is beautiful.
Recommended cocktail shaker: ABSOLUT ELYX BOUTIQUE Brass Patterned Cocktail Shaker. (Use this link to get $15 off your first order)
How Should I Serve A Tampa Bay Breeze?
Shaken or Stirred: For cocktail recipes that contain multiple fruit juices like the bay breeze, you always shake them to ensure they are properly mixed, ice cold and refreshing.
Straight up or on the rocks: Serve your Tampa Bay Breeze on the rocks.
The Garnish: Befitting the tropical flavors in this drink, garnish with a wedge of pineapple and a bright cocktail cherry. In addition, if you are a Tampa Bay Rays fan then add a mini Rays flag.
We hope you enjoy our Tampa Bay Breeze recipe below, and as always drink local and drink responsibly. Go Rays!
