WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED?
Making your own simple syrups, as the name suggests, is incredibly simple. This easy honey simple syrup recipe requires just 2 ingredients- honey and water. With so few ingredients, it is essential that you use good quality orange blossom honey. As luck would have it, Florida has hundreds of thousands of acres of orange groves, so there is plenty of nectar to go around for all the bees. As a result, Florida makes some of the best orange blossom honey on the market.
The Honey
As mentioned, with all those acres of orange groves Florida produces an abundance of great orange blossom honey, here are our top picks for companies producing amazing local Florida honey:

The Water
If you are using water in cocktails, simple syrups or cooking, use filtered water. You want to get rid of the trace levels of chlorine and heavy metals that come out of your tap. If you don’t already own one, then get yourself a Brita pitcher. You will never look back.
Recommended Pitcher: BRITA Everyday Water Pitcher (10 cup)
WHAT EQUIPMENT SHOULD I USE?
Saucepan: Heavy bottomed nonstick pans are best as they absorb and distribute heat more evenly to prevent sticking and burning.
Recommended Pan: FABERWARE Nonstick Saucepan with Straining Lid (1 Quart)
Storage
You can store your simple syrup in any airtight jars that you have at home. If you make cocktails regularly however it is worth getting yourself some storage bottles specifically for your simple syrups. Anything made for pouring liquid will work, so things like olive oil dispensers are perfect. We’ve received plenty of compliments on our cork topped jug, and everyone is always surprised it was only around $10 from Amazon!
Recommended Storage Bottle: BORMIOLI ROCCO Cork Topped Oil Bottle, (8 oz)
Funnel
A funnel will make transferring your simple syrup to a bottle a breeze. There are plenty of cheap options on amazon and most of them are collapsible to save on space in your kitchen drawers.
Recommended Funnel: RIENAR Silicone Collapsible Funnel (2 Pack)
